Retro Galaxy Slot Game

Retro Galaxy Slot Game

Microgaming’s Retro Galaxy has something of a 1970s disco feel to it, but a minimalist approach prevents it from meandering into territory that would make it the sort of period-based game that is ten-a-penny and is instead a stripped back, relaxed version of a game that tips its hat at a time when flared trousers and Atari game consoles were the ‘in’ things.

Game Details

Retro Galaxy plays out on a 5×3 playboard that features the usual suspects of playing card values ranging from ‘10s’ through to ‘As’ but is also packed with diamonds, stars and lightning bolts to keep you on your toes.

As far as wagering is concerned, players can stake as little as $€£0.20 per spin. However, bigger budget players may feel a bit undernourished by what is a rather measly $€£20 max bet per round.

RTP

Even in 2021 we see plenty of slot games that fail to hit what we would call our unofficial industry standard of 95% Returns To Player (RTP) but this isn’t the case for Retro Galaxy, which tips the scales at just over 96%. However, one minor word of caution should be reserved for the game’s high volatility, which means you may have to wait a short while between wins.

Payouts

A steady 243 paylines means there are more than enough chances to bag yourself a win on Retro Galaxy, and with eleven symbols live during each spin, the numbers are very much stacked in favour of the player. To get yourself a basic win, you just need to line up three matching symbols from left to right. Easy as you like!

Visuals

We touched on it at the start of the review, but Retro Galaxy is set on a nice, clean, intergalactic backdrop, while the playing symbols themselves are where the “retro” aspect of the game’s title comes into play, with extra tinges of neon adding to the 70s vintage aesthetics. The game’s soundtrack is probably more weighted towards the outer space theme rather than the retro side, but it’s still a powerful musical piece that adds immersion to the gaming experience.

Bonuses

Players can bag themselves up to 20 free spins in Reto Galaxy’s bonus round, which is triggered when you land up to five of the triangular Free Spins scatter symbols. Rolling Reels also make regular appearances, even when you land the lowest-paying wins, providing players the chance to further top up their winnings.

And for all the jackpot hunters out there, the top prize on Retro Gaming is a very juicy 7300 multiplier on your original stake. Not bad for a night down at the discotech…

Casino77 Verdict

Retro Galaxy is a nicely crafted game that is aesthetically pleasing enough to keep players spinning, and is worth playing for the sake of ticking it off your bucket list.
