ELK Studio’s ‘Hit it Hard’ is guaranteed to have you jigging and jiving in your seat as you are transported back to the flashing neon ’90s with this irresistible toe-tapping take on classic slots play. The jolly background music is as engaging as the bright and classic interface and shining traditional graphics. We felt a little like we were on a game show as we got the reels spinning and the winnings flowing.
The in-game announcer’s voice adds a real techno touch as he announces the start of the bonus game. As if the bonus game, neon lights and multiple ways to win weren’t enough, there are also great mini-games to enjoy in this title.
Despite its busy and flashing aesthetics, this game is deceptively simple and straightforward to start playing. There are three reels and five pay lines. We love the classic feel of the gameplay. The iconic symbols give the game a comforting feel as they go back to the roots of the slot machine – cherries, lemons and watermelons spin through the display as you set the reels in motion.
With an RTP of 96%, there are plenty of payouts to be had. There is the chance to multiply your stake by up to a very impressive and generous 50x. The wild symbol appears on the last reel and offers the opportunity to further increase your multiplier by up to 5.
‘Hit it Hard’ boasts an impressive array of mini-games that are displayed on the virtual machine above the reels. There’s a lot on offer here, so there is no chance of boredom or repetition. Once you have gained entry to the mini-games by spinning three dice on the reels, you will have access to no less than 23 mini-games. After a roll of the dice, you will find yourself either playing a game of ‘Stacked Wilds’, which gives you stacked wilds on reels two and three; ‘Power Run’, which awards you every square you pass on the board following a dice roll; ‘Lucky Ballz’, where you will play a game of pachinko and the chance to apply a 500x multiplier to your stake; or ‘Wild 10 Spins’, which gives you 10 spins with guaranteed multiplier wilds on reel three. In our opinion, the mini-games really make this title different. The combination of a classic look and feel with the mini-games gives it a really unique angle.
The operation is simple and the information about the mini-games is clear, so although they all differ in design and rules, there is nothing confusing about them. This is just a game of out and out fun. We found the game to be very responsive and while the mini-games were fun, they didn’t take too much away from the main reels and gameplay. The autoplay feature allows you to set and control stakes as well as creating a fast and furious playing experience. There’s nothing not to love about this unique offering and we enjoyed playing it.
