Golden Yak does a great job of capturing Mongolia’s unique culture and spirituality and certainly presents it in a beautiful fashion with lots of bright colours and clever animations.

Background
Golden Yak is certainly a vibrant looking slot game, and with so many slots playing it safe with their settings and themes, that’s actually a breath of fresh air. The background is a bright orange sunset among the purple mountains of Mongolia, and every symbol and menu item on the page has a golden or neon tinge to it. The low-value symbols are patterned versions of the generic 9 – A, which is a shame, but the higher value symbols include a variety of Mongolian animals and cultural icons such as jewellery, Mongolian warriors, leopards and pagodas. There’s also a relaxing Asian-inspired soundtrack to accompany the slot, including ringing bells and chimes to calm as you play.
So the Golden Yak slot game has some cool visuals, but what about the pay-out potential? To start with, this slot operates on a slightly larger than usual five-reel and four-row grid, with an excellent 1024 ways to win. This means the prizes will be coming thick and fast and combined with a high betting range of £/€/$0.40 to £/€/$50.00 that can also add up to a whole lot of cash, too. Alongside the standard symbols, there is also the titular Golden Yak that acts as a wild and substitutes for other symbols. Bonuses
They call Golden Yak a high volatility slot, and here’s why. Landing three or more pagoda scatters grants you seven free spins and a payout, totalling 10x your stake if you land five of them, as well as an automatic 2x multiplier on all your winnings. Here’s where it gets interesting. If you manage to land two wilds in your seven free spins your multiplier is upgraded to 4x, and if you manage to land two more scatters you get a whole new batch of seven free spins and you move up to level two. That means you start with a 4x multiplier you can upgrade to 6x with two more yaks. This continues up to level 6, in which you automatically get a 10x multiplier that upgrades to a massive 100x. Golden Yak combines an original theme with some great art and sound design and some amazing bonuses to create an all-round good package, but you may find yourself wishing that you won more in the main game. The big wins really only show up in the bonus rounds, and it may take a long time to get there, but it is possible!
